    Every sign tells a story.

    BCCSD will host a one-day community event celebrating the United Nations–recognized International Day of Sign Languages. The event will promote awareness of sign languages, celebrate Deaf culture, and strengthen connections between Deaf and hearing communities.The venue will feature three dedicated areas:

    • Kids/Family Room — Crafts, activities, and a quiet/relaxation space

    • Workshop Room — Educational sessions on AI 101, IDSL's United Nations recognition, advocacy, and more

    • Theatre (Main Stage) — Soundscape and the Evening Showcase, exploring accessible, multi-sensory performance for Deaf and hard-of-hearing audiences

    Tentative Schedule

    • Kids/Family room run from 3pm until close

    • Educational Workshops run from 4:00–5:30 PM, covering a range of topics for attendees to explore.

    • The Evening Cultural Showcase runs from 6:00–7:30 PM, featuring opening remarks by an Elder from the Musqueam Nation and performances by Deaf and hearing artists.

    Sliding Scale Vendor Fee - $50–$100

    • Vendors are invited to choose a fee between $50–$100 based on organizational size and capacity. Exemptions available on request — we aim to keep this accessible and won't turn anyone away for financial reasons. Contact [email protected] to discuss options. Includes: one vendor table, and the chance to connect with attendees and share resources.
